The All Africa Youth Congress (AAYC) is an initiative of the All Africa Conference of Churches'(AACC) to facilitate the continental Youth Campaign on African patriotism.
This year’s campaign was mobilized under the theme “Africa: My Home, My Future” and endeavored to increase awareness of the tremendous potential and opportunities for young people in the continent, thus inspiring the young people to be patriotic to their countries and Africa by utilizing their talents and gifts towards building a thriving continent.
The 5-day event featured a series of multicultural events starting from an all-Africa flag trooping ceremony, procession with the climate justice torch to an all Africa cultural display ceremony for all participants while presenting on various elements of climate disasters and deliberations on how best to mitigate the effects of climate change which has caused many damages to lives and property in most parts of Africa this year.
The event also focused on various workshops with topics ranging from
- Celebration of African Heritage through arts and culture
- Embracing Youth in Cyber Technology & Development
- Sports in Promoting Youth & African Patriotism
- Climate finance
- Deconstructing the legacies of Slavery
- Abundant Africa Initiative
- Peace and Security in Africa with focus on the Agenda 2063, “the Africa we Want”
- Combat the Proliferation of Small Arms & Light Weapons and the issue of violent extremism
- Public Accountability & Anti-Corruption in Africa among others
Various dignitaries were also in attendance and provided their support by contributing to the topics discussed. The Ghanaian Minister of Youth & Sports, Isaac Asiamah, Rev. Dr. Fidon Mwombeki,AACC General Secretary and Rev. Chikondi Banda(Malawi) among others.
