ABANTU For Development & Cocoalife engaged with members of Amansie West and Sekyere East Districts to provide training on the four (4) member groups in each district, namely, Gender Dialogue Platform, Farmer Union, Youth and Key Institutional Representatives. This blog post provides a summary report of activities undertaken under the training.
Day 1 : Cocoalife training for Gender Dialogue Platform (GDP) to enhance women’s participation in key decision making spaces at the community level and Engagement with Union Executives on Enhancing Women’s Representation at the committee levels in Amansie West District.
ABANTU has strengthened the Gender Dialogue Platform in the Amansie West District with the election of a President and four (4) other executives. The Platform has also committed to meeting once every quarter to discuss gender and other related issues. The members will also meet once every month in their various communities to discuss gender issues. Participants who participated in last year’s training also shared how the training has impacted their lives.
Day 2: Training of youth on gender responsive leadership in Antoakrom in the Amansie West District.
The youth have been trained on Gender issues and leadership. They were generally impressed about the training. This brings an end to the trainings in Amansie West District. Eight young women committed to contesting in local level elections and other leadership positions.
